Aeneas Valley Country Store, known for their free package drop off/pick up service, is taking a bold step to tackle the overwhelming demand of packages from the community. Starting April 1st, the store will be implementing a per package charge of $2. However, the store owners, Doug and his wife, are making it clear that this fee does not give anyone the right to criticize the local drivers.

In a statement released by the owners, they mentioned that anyone who has an issue with the fee should come to the store and talk to them about it. They also added that any complaints about FedEx, UPS or USPS should be directed to the corporate office and not to the store or local drivers. “local drivers are not
your punching bag,” they emphasized.

The statement also included a plea for people to show kindness and support to Jason Eylar, one of the local drivers who is recovering from surgery. The owners recommended sending positive vibes to him instead of attacking the drivers or the store.

Unfortunately, not everyone in the community took kindly to the new policy. The owners received a barrage of hateful and harassing messages, with some even threatening to destroy their business. In response, the owners apologized for any upset the policy may have caused and thanked those who had sent supportive messages. They also decided to turn off comments to avoid any further upset.

Despite the negative backlash, the owners remain committed to serving the community and hope that people will understand the necessity of the fee. As they say, “We appreciate your understanding and we look forward to continuing to serve our community.”
