A Call to Bid!
A grand gala of bureaucracy and red tape awaits as Okanogan County extends an invitation to bid for the Central Landfill Asphalt Pad. The Office of the Board of County Commissioners, hidden away in the Grainger Administration Building, will be accepting mailed proposals until the day before they remember they had a deadline. For the brave souls hand-carrying their bids, the Clerk of the Board will be waiting with bated breath until precisely 11:00:59AM Pacific Time on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023. Technology enthusiasts beware; no facsimiles or electronic proposals will be entertained.
Bidders, bring forth your tokens of commitment: certified checks, cashier’s checks, or surety bonds equal to a whole 5% of your bid proposal. Should you emerge victorious yet fail to follow through, Okanogan County will gleefully accept your forfeited deposit.
To obtain the coveted Project Specifications, journey to the mystical office of the County Engineer or dial the Contracts Administrator at 509-422-7333. But heed this warning: only bids submitted on the original parchment provided in the accompanying bid packet shall be considered.
For those who enjoy perusing documents online, the County website and various plan centers scattered across Washington hold informational Project Specifications as well.
Okanogan County, in a stunning display of compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, proudly announces its commitment to nondiscrimination. They assure all bidders that the disadvantaged will be given a fair chance to participate in this grand asphalt extravaganza.
The Board of Commissioners reserves the right to scoff at any and all bids and to ignore any trivial irregularities. They promise to award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder – as if there ever was such a thing.
Behold the magnum opus of this contract: the placement of a monumental 900 tons of asphalt at the Central Landfill facility in Okanogan, and perhaps some other tasks, all in accordance with the sacred scrolls of the Contract Plans, Contract Provisions, and Standard Specifications.
Generously published at absolutely no cost (because, let’s face it, those tiny newspapers with their itty-bitty subscriber bases that the Okanogan County Commissioners just adore weren’t quite cutting it) in the ever-magnanimous Omak Republic News. March 30, 2023. OVG973962
